Successfully conceived, built and managed a company and its best-of-breed online service from concept to close
Situation
Early 2000, I was approached by a acquaintance with 16 years of experience in the collection industry to help develop a business plan and marketing strategy. After a few months of research and investigation, determined that market and opportunity were substantial even in a post web euphoria market. After the collapse of InsuranceNow, I followed my entrepreneurial spirit and started ClickCollect, Inc. The goal was to open up the collection industry to the Internet channel and eventually sell the business to a “natural owner.”

Action Plan
The first order of business was to recruit and engage a credible team to develop and deliver the company’s promise of being the best-of-breed online accounts receivable solution. Using my marketing and busines strateg background, developed a detailed business and action plan to develop the business and the website.
- Recruited top-notch technical team to develop technology architecture
- Spearheaded business and marketing strategy, developed investment presentation and capital raising plan. Including unique market positioning strategy to distance ClickCollect from competition
- Recruited, positioned and negotiated content licensing deal with Len Sklar, well-known and respected speaker and author within the collection industry. Negotiated all digital rights and derivative rights to all Len’s content including his industry standard, The Check is NOT in the Mail.
- Organized and lead capital fund raising with numerous small venture groups and funds. Closed $600,000 in September based on personal contacts and influence
- Formulated promotional code structure with technical staff to enable online tracking of marketing and partnership activity
- Structure content from The Check is NOT in the Mail into content categories to be reflected in site, and managed the marketing and creative aspects of site development, and spearheaded user interface for both content and transactional aspects of the site
- Developed all marketing collateral, including partner collateral to recruit distribution partners
- Developed partnership strategy and partnership agreements and closed three of four ClickCollect partnerships
- Spearheaded and managed the development and launch of direct marketing and direct emarketing trial campaigns

- Built best-of-breed collection services site from concept to “go live” in slightly more than 5 months. By far the most comprehensive site with regards to helpful collections content, ease of use and functionality in the collection industry today.
- Generated over 100 small business clients with little marketing expeditures
- The only collection company in the industry to earn TRUSTe trademark for user privacy
- Through tough fiscal management was able to develop run and maintain a high-level of customer and employee satisfaction for over a year with little financial resources
- Developed a team so loyal and dedicated that they continued to work well after the company could no longer afford to make payroll
